Practice Profile
We reside
in a modern purpose-built building first occupied in October 1989 with ample parking
provided. There is a spacious comfortable waiting area lit by natural light which
can easily be accessed by our disabled patients.
The surgery is situated
just off Malpas Road on the Newport side of Junction 26 off the M4, at the entrance
to Goodrich Crescent nearest the motorway exit. It can be easily identified by
its prominent sign.
RESULTS OF MALPAS BROOK HEALTH CENTRE PATIENT SURVEY 2008
DATE: 21 MAY 2009
We would like to thank all our patients who took the time to answer a number of questions about the service we provide to you and about the practice. We were also very gratified to receive many complimentary remarks about the standard of health care being delivered.
Overall we are happy to report the majority of our patients are satisfied with our opening hours, the Doctors’ consultation approach and the continuity of care we offer. In addition, many of our patients are satisfied when telephoning the practice and an increased number have reported an improvement when telephoning to seek advice from a doctor compared to the results in 2007.
A number of patients have expressed dissatisfaction with the waiting times at the practice as well as the availability of any or a particular doctor, although we only marginally failed to achieve the minimum standard for the availability of any doctor. Also, whilst the majority of our patients reported they were satisfied with our reception service, there is still room for some improvement.
Waiting Times: the doctors aim to keep to the scheduled appointment time for each patient but, on occasions, the consultation can be complex and inevitably takes longer to ensure the patient’s needs are fully met. With regard to emergency appointments, we cannot guarantee a short wait but patients are advised of this when making the appointment.
Availability of Particular Doctor: we recognise that many patients would prefer to see a doctor of their choice but appointment availability is limited by factors such as: holidays and professional development/training, minor surgery. We have now opened our appointment book to allow patients to book appointments with the doctor of their choice up to TWO weeks in advance. This will hopefully alleviate the problem but the situation will be kept under review.
